# Roles

Role Message Tracking will keep track of how many messages are sent by users with a role! Which is great if you want to track how active your moderation team is, or find out what demographic is the most active.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Free servers are limited to 1 tracked role, for up to 5 you need [TicketsPRO](/ticketsdocs/pro/about.md)
{% endhint %}

## Setup

To setup Role message tracking, run the `/message role-tracker` command

For the options you have 2, "slot" and "role" there are 5 total slots each slot can occupy one role to be tracked, you must select a slot and a role to be set in it, once you do that Tickets will begin tracking the role.

## Manage/Replace Tracked Roles

When you run `/message role-tracker` is run it permanently overwrites previous data, so if you want to replace a role, or reset it just rerun the command to do so.

There are no backups, so proceed with caution

## View Tracked Roles

You can easily view tracked roles using the `/message role-view` command, this will display all of the tracked roles and their message counts, if a slot isnt filled it'll say "Not set."

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://invomagic.gitbook.io/ticketsdocs/mssgtrack/roles.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
